ESCP Europe graduates have excellent employment rates. For example, our most recent survey of MEB (Master in European Business) graduates showed that 93% were employed within six months, 61% of whom were employed even before graduation!

To help our students find a career path that suits them, we organise a wide range of company presentations, visits and workshops in collaboration with some of the biggest names in business. One such recent event was a visit to the Google European headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.

We asked Davide Tamagno, a first-year student on the Master in Management programme, to share his experience:

"As someone who has long been passionate about working in the digital sector, I always wanted to see first-hand what was behind the simple and colourful word 'Google' that appears every time that I launch an Internet browser.

"With the help of Enrico Cocchi, Head of Student Careers at the London campus, I contacted former ESCP Europe students working at Google, hoping to establish an entrepreneurial project between the School and this online giant. The idea was to create an event which would present ESCP Europe students to Google, underlining how valuable we are as graduates.

"Christina Mathikoloni, University Programmes Specialist (Meds & IL) at Google, helped the Careers team and the students to expand on this by organising a dedicated networking event at the Google headquarters in Dublin. 100 students applied for the visit, with Google selecting just 20. In addition, the ESCP Europe Alumni Association helped with organising a dedicated networking event after the Google visit, during which former students now working in Dublin had a chance to interact with current students and share their experiences.

"Our morning session was focused on the 'Google X' workshop, a one-hour competition during which we were divided into small teams, challenged with identifying a problem, and finally asked provide an innovative solution for said problem.

"Afterwards, we took part in a graduate panel. This was attended by ESCP Europe alumni who were already working in the SMB Sales and Customer Service departments. It was a great opportunity to hear about their own experiences within the firm, and for us to ask key questions during the Q&A session that followed.

"This was followed by an amazing tour through the premises, allowing us to get a taste of the unique working environment at Google.

"In the afternoon we attended a talk by a member of their HR department and were briefed us on the available entry-level positions for graduates from ESCP Europe. So what is Google looking for, exactly? The answer would be 'Googliness', a concept that takes in aspects such as leadership, entrepreneurship, creativity and internationality; but above all, a candidate's personality is key: curiosity, a hunger to learn, to experience new situations and an ability to think outside of the box.

"Thank you to everyone at the London campus who made this trip happen – Enrico Cocchi, Joanna Kamath and Maria Rosemin – and to Google for hosting us!"
